LG GW620 is latest Android competitor; LG WinMo to continue

LG have officially announced their first Android handset, the LG GW620, and with it a “two tier smartphone strategy” signifying the company’s intent to continue to offer Windows Mobile devices.  The GW620 has both a 3-inch touchscreen and a slide-out QWERTY hardware keyboard, and avoids the heavy customization of HTC Sense or Motorola MOTOBLUR. Although LG have not yet confirmed full specifications for the GW620, when the handset was spotted last week – as the LG Etna – it was listed as having Bluetooth, USB and a 5-megapixel camera.  We’re also presuming LG will throw in 3G connectivity and a microSD card slot. Samsung Spinpoint M7 640GB 2.5-inch hard-drive debuts

Samsung have announced their latest 2.5-inch hard-drive, and while it may not be a fashionable SSD it does at least have capacity going for it.  The Samsung Spinpoint M7 packs 640GB into its dual-platter design, with 5,400rpm spin speed. The new drive is possible because Samsung have managed to squeeze more data density onto their platters; in fact, they’ve managed a 28-percent increase over their previous 500GB high-end 2.5-inch drive.  The 640GB M7 is also reasonably shock resistant, and while you won’t be seeing it in rugged computers it should be able to survive some ultraportable use.
