Korg have outed their latest product range, including the MicroSampler mini-synth shown here, a new digital percussion instrument, the WAVEDRUM, and a stage keyboard, the SV-1 Stage Vintage Piano. Â Of the three, we’re perhaps most intrigued by the MicroSampler, a compact keyboard with a sampler, loop sequencer and onboard effects, all of which are intended to be used in real-time performance.
The MicroSampler can map multiple different clips and loops to each key, with LED indicators showing which is active, and is capable of recording from line-in (such as from your iPhone), from the included gooseneck microphone, and from its own onboard sounds. Â There’s also timestretching and other pro features, ...

Paul Wedgwood, fervent gamer turned bold game designer, believes he has identified the greatest experience a player can have in a video game. And he's determined to make it possible for us all to experience it. Wedgwood's means to this end is Brink, the squad-based shooter he showed to attendees during a stage demo at QuakeCon in Dallas on Friday (Brink preview here). A day earlier, I spoke to him about the game and its planned deployment as a tool that can blur the lines between single-player and multiplayer gaming. As Wedgwood walked me through his answer and discussed a conversation he has had with Brink's creative director, Richard Ham, he brought me to this ...

Video demo after the cut
The DualShock hooks up to three new mini-USB ports placed on the back of the PSP, meaning that it’s a non-permanent attachment. Â When you have a table or other surface to rest the PSP on, then you can use the external controller; if you’re on the bus, however, you can continue to use the handheld’s own buttons.
There’s no tutorial at present, but the gang ...

Simian Mobile Disco's second album Temporary Pleasure includes guest spots from Beth Ditto, Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor, Gruff Rhys, Telepathe, and others. One of these others, Yeasayer's Chris Keating, adds his pipes to the collection's first single "Audacity Of Huge." The words? A million and one references to pop culture, art, literature, etc: The title's clearly supposed to echo The Audacity Of Hope and James Ford and Jas Shaw's lyrics/director Kate Moross' images conjure James Joyce, Damien Hirst, Mamma Cass, Peter Tosch, Joey Ramone, Bill Murray, P.M. Dawn, etc. As in the past, analog synthesizers and drum machines were used in favor of computerized gizmos. For the video shiny eye candy was used in favor of anything not dipped in ...
