Omar Minaya Evaluation - Part 4

In the conclusion of the trades portion of the Omar Minaya evaluation we will look at the 6 most recent trades made by Omar covering all of 2007 and 2008 to date. 1. July 30^th 2007 – Traded Drew Butera (C) and Dustin Martin (OF) to the Minnesota Twins for Luis Castillo (2B)  In an effort to add another spark to the top of the lineup as well as solidifying the defense up the middle Omar acquired Luis Castillo from the Twins for two minor leaguers. Castillo, who was a major catalyst for the 2003 World Champion Florida Marlins and has also made a name for himself as one of the games best contact hitters. In my opinion this deal came a year too late. As I stated countless times throughout the 2006 season, Castillo was the missing piece to the championship puzzle.
